Windscreen wipers

Switching the windscreen wipers on/off

To switch on the windscreen wipers
Single wipe/to wipe the windscreen using washer fluid

Combination switch

Settings:

Windscreen wipers off

Intermittent wipe, low

(on vehicles with a rain sensor*: rain sensor set to low sensitivity)

Intermittent wipe, high

(on vehicles with a rain sensor*: rain sensor set to high sensitivity)

Continuous wipe, slow

Continuous wipe, fast

Vehicles with a rain sensor*:

If the windscreen becomes dirty in dry weather conditions, the windscreen wipers may be activated inadvertently. This could then damage the windscreen wiper blades or scratch the windscreen.

For this reason, you should always switch off the windscreen wipers in dry weather.
  

Make sure that the key is in position 1 or 2 in the ignition lock.

The various wiper settings can be selected as follows:

Single wipe

  

Briefly press the combination switch to the pressure point in the direction of arrow .

Wiping with washer fluid

  

Press the combination switch beyond the pressure point in the direction of arrow .

Intermittent wipe/rain sensor*

  

Depending on the intensity of the rain, turn the combination switch in the direction of arrow to position or .
 

The windscreen wipers will wipe at regular intervals. On vehicles with a rain sensor* the appropriate wiping frequency is set automatically according to the intensity of the rain.

Continuous wipe

  

Depending on the intensity of the rain, turn the combination switch in the direction of arrow to position or .

Switching off the windscreen wipers

  

Turn the combination switch to position .
 

Rear window wiper (Estate)

Combination switch

Intermittent wipe

  

Make sure that the key is in position 1 in the ignition lock.
  

To switch on: turn switch to position .
 

The symbol for the rear window wiper appears in the instrument cluster.
  

To switch off: turn switch to position .
 

The symbol for the rear window wiper in the instrument cluster goes out.

Wiping with washer fluid

  

Make sure that the key is in position 1 in the ignition lock.
  

Turn switch to position or position and hold it there until the rear window has been cleaned.
 

The rear window is wiped for a further five seconds after the switch is released.
