On-board computerThe on-board computer is activated as soon as you turn the key to position 1 in the ignition lock. You can use the on-board computer to look up information relating to your vehicle and to make and/or adjust settings. You can call up the next service due date, select the display language for the instrument cluster and set other functions.

Several functions are combined thematically in the menus. For example, the Audio menu contains functions for operating the radio or CD player. Or you can use a function to call up information or to change settings for your vehicle. You can think of the configuration of the menus and the functions within a menu as a circle: In contrast to the other menus, the Settings menu contains a number of submenus more. This is what the displays look like when you scroll through the menus. The generic terms in the table overview are intended to help you navigate through the menus. The terms themselves are not always displayed in the multi-function display. In vehicles with Audio 20 the on-board computer displays the Audio and Telephone* menus in English. The language for these menus is not dependent on the language selected for the multi-function display. You can display the digital speedometer instead of outside temperature

In the manual gearshift program, the menu is displayed in red when the engine reaches the overrevving range. You will also see shift up instruction The engine oil temperature indicator flashes if the engine oil temperature has not yet reached 80 †. Avoid driving at full engine output during this time. RACETIMERWith the RACETIMER you can record times in hours, minutes and seconds.
While you have the RACETIMER displayed, you will not be able to adjust the volume using the Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel.
You can start the RACETIMER when the engine is running or the key is in position 2 in the ignition lock.
The RACETIMER interrupts timing when you stop the vehicle and turn the key to position 1 in the ignition lock. When you turn the key to position 2 or 3 and then press Storing the lap time and starting a new lapIt is possible to store a maximum of nine laps.
Resetting the current lapDeleting all lapsIf you have switched off the engine, the RACETIMER is reset to "0" after 30 seconds. All laps are deleted. It is not possible to delete a single stored lap on its own. Overall evaluationThis function is only available if you have stored at least one lap and have stopped the RACETIMER.

Audio menuUse the functions in the Audio menu to operate the audio equipment. If no audio equipment is switched on, the AUDIO OFF (Audio 50 APS* and COMAND APS*: Audio off) message appears in the multi-function display. In vehicles with Audio 50 APS* and Russian as a language setting, the on-board computer displays this menu in English.
Selecting a radio stationYou can only store new stations with the audio system. Please refer to the separate operating instructions for notes on how to do this. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel.
Operating the CD player or CD changer*MP3 CDs can only be played in the CD changer* drive. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel.
Navigation* menuIn the Navigation menu, the multi-function display shows information from the navigation system. In vehicles with Audio 50 APS* and Russian as a language setting, the on-board computer displays this menu in English.

Message memory menuPrevious display messages can be called up in the Message memory menu. You will only see the Message memory menu if there are any display messages. Switching off the ignition clears the Message memory except for the highest priority display messages. The on-board computer will delete these display messages only after the reason for the message has been rectified.

Settings menuThere are two functions in the Settings menu: the To reset: Press reset button for 3 seconds function, which you can use to restore most settings to the factory settings. And there are submenus via which you can make individual settings for your vehicle.
Restoring to factory settingsFor safety reasons, not all functions are reset: permanent Speedtronic can only be set in the Vehicle submenu. The Headlamp mode function in the Lighting submenu is only reset if the vehicle is stationary. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel. Setting constant headlamp mode
If you have set the constant headlamp mode and the light switch is in position For safety reasons, it is only possible to set this function when the vehicle is stationary. In countries in which constant headlamp mode is a legal requirement, constant is the factory setting. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel.
For safety reasons, you cannot reset the Headlamp mode function to the factory setting while you are driving. If you attempt to do so, the following message will appear in the multi-function display: Settings Cannot be completely reset to factory settings while driving. Switching the surround lighting on or offThe surround lighting switches off automatically if you open the driver's door or after 40 seconds. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel. Activating or deactivating the exterior lighting delayed switch-offUsing the Headlamp switch-off delay function, you can set whether the exterior lighting should remain on when it is dark for 15 seconds after the doors are closed. If none of the doors are opened after the engine is switched off or if an open door is not closed, the exterior lighting goes out after 60 seconds. You can reactivate this function by opening a door within 10 minutes. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel. To temporarily deactivate the delayed switch-off: Activating or deactivating the interior lighting delayed switch-offWhen it is dark, the Interior lighting delayed switch-off function allows you to set whether the interior lighting should remain on for 10 seconds after the key is removed from the ignition lock. Setting the radio station selectionYou can use the Audio search function to set whether a new station is to be searched for or whether a stored station is to be selected every time you operate the radio*. If the Frequency setting is selected, the station search is started. If the Memory setting is selected, the next stored station is selected. Use the buttons on the multi-function steering wheel.
Activating/deactivating the automatic door lockThe Automatic door lock function allows you to set whether your vehicle will lock centrally from a speed of about 15 km/h upwards.
