Changing the batteries
Notes
If the batteries in the key or KEYLESS GO key* are discharged, you will only be able to lock or unlock the vehicle using the emergency key element more.
If the batteries in the auxiliary heating remote control* are discharged, you will only be able to switch the auxiliary heating on or off using the button in the vehicle more.
It is then advisable to have the batteries replaced at a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. at a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Batteries contain toxic and caustic substances. For this reason, keep batteries away from children.
If a battery is swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.

Do not dispose of batteries with the household rubbish. They contain highly toxic substances.
Take discharged batteries to a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre, or to a special collection point for old batteries.

Always replace the batteries in pairs.
You can obtain suitable batteries from a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
They will also change batteries for you and take back old batteries. In many EU countries and some other countries, retailers are legally obliged to take back old batteries.

Key or KEYLESS GO key*
Checking the batteries

Press the or button on the key or the KEYLESS GO key.

The batteries are in order if the battery charge indicator lamp goes on briefly.

|
The vehicle could be accidentally locked or unlocked by pressing the buttons on the key.

Changing the batteries
You require two CR 2025 3V cell batteries.

Remove the emergency key element from the key more.

Remove old batteries from the battery tray.
|
|
Insert the new batteries beneath the contact spring with the positive terminal facing upwards. Use a lint-free cloth to do so.

When inserting the batteries, make sure that they are clean and lint-free.
|

Push the battery tray back into the key housing until the battery tray engages.
|
|
Check the function of all key buttons on the vehicle.

Auxiliary heating* remote control
You need two 12V pin batteries.

Slide off battery cover .
|
|
Remove old batteries .
|
|
Insert the new batteries. Observe the plus and minus signs in the remote control housing when doing so.

When inserting the batteries, make sure that they are clean and lint-free.

Slide the battery cover back onto the remote control.
|
|
Check the auxiliary heating functions on the vehicle using the remote control.
