Operating the roll bar manually (Cabriolet)

Activating the roll-over bar manually

The roll-over bars can be activated manually if the actuation system of the roll-over bars is faulty. The soft top can no longer be operated after the manual actuation of the roll-over bars.

	Risk of accident
If the roll-over bar warning lamp in the instrument cluster lights up or flickers while the engine is running, stop the vehicle immediately and activate the roll-over bars manually. If the roll-over bar is not activated manually in this case, you will not be protected properly if the vehicle overturns.

	Close the soft top more.
	Swing back the boot separator more.
	Open the skibag cover* more.
	Take the hex-socket wrench out of the Owner's Manual wallet.

Fold back covers resources/font_symbols/mbsymb5/mbsymb5_0031.png at the perforation. Use a pointed object to detach them if necessary.

	Risk of injury
Make sure no-one is within the sweeping range of the roll-over bar when performing the following steps. Activation of the roll-over bar causes the head restraints in the rear to shoot up together with the roll-over bars below them.

Hex-socket wrench

	Insert the long side of hex-socket wrench into the centre of the hole.
	Use hex-socket wrench to press down the release catch.
	The roll-over bar is pushed out with a loud noise.
	Repeat these steps for the other roll-over bar.
	Have the roll-over bar checked immediately at a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. at a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Lowering the roll-over bar manually

The roll-over bars can be lowered manually once they have been activated.

The rear seat head restraints cannot be lowered and the soft top cannot be opened or closed if the roll-over bar is activated.

Risk of injury

The roll-over bars may be lowered only if the soft top is open. The roll-over bars might otherwise not work properly and not minimise the risk of injury.

To lower the roll-over bars with the soft top closed, visit a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Take the hex-socket wrench out of the Owner's Manual wallet.

To push down the head restraint

To push down the hex-socket wrench

	Place hex-socket wrench with its long side along trim seam into the gap next to the respective head restraint.
	Push hex-socket wrench down in the direction of arrow until spring resistance is felt.
	Now use hex-socket wrench to push the spring down with force as far as it will go in the direction of arrow and hold it down.
	Push down head restraint until it engages.
	Pull out hex-socket wrench and release the pressure on the head restraint.
	Repeat these steps on the other head restraint.
