Defining a category
The categories and
special destinations available depend on the vehicle's current location.

Special destination
in the vicinity of the current position: categories sorted alphabetically and
special destinations sorted by distance within a 20 km radius of the vehicle
position are available.

Special destination
within a given town: if you have only entered the country and the town,
alphabetically sorted categories and special destinations within the town are
available.
If
you have entered more than the country and the town, categories sorted
alphabetically and special destinations sorted by distance within a 20 km
radius of the address entered are available.

Special destination
in a different region: alphabetically sorted categories and special
destinations are available.
Selecting a
category
Depending on the number of available categories, the main
category list is displayed either with or without input characters during
category input.

are activated automatically.

With input
characters you
can only select the characters that are currently available. Which these are
depends on the current input string and the data contained on the digital
map.

During the character selection procedure described below, list
entry
always
shows a category that most closely matches the current input string.
COMAND then
automatically adds plausible characters
to those already
entered by the user
.
Input characters
disappear if
COMAND is able to unambiguously assign the characters entered to one category.
The list of main categories is shown without the input characters. Here you can
make another selection.
It is also possible
to change to the main category list without input characters manually at any
time during character input.

Main categories
with icon
contain either special destinations or sub-categories. Subsequent operation
depends on whether the main category selected contains sub-categories or only
special destinations.

Selecting one of
these main categories takes you to a list of sub-categories. The following
illustration shows the
RESTAURANT main category
with available sub-categories

The special
destination list is displayed after you have selected a sub-category
. It contains
the special destinations available in the sub-category that are within the
search radius.

If the main
category selected contains no sub-categories, only special destinations:
Selecting one of
these main categories takes you straight to the special destination list. The
special destination list then contains the special destinations available in
the main category and that are within the search
radius.

sub-category in the vicinity of the current position.

options
Options in
category and special destination lists
If you enter a
special destination in the vicinity of the vehicle’s current position,
categories and special destinations are initially available within a 20
km radius of the vehicle’s current position. The same applies if you
enter a special destination within a given town and have previously entered
more than the country and the town.
If you expand the
list, the search radius increases to 150 km. This gives you
access to all categories and special destinations within this radius.

to expand the list if you have entered a special destination within a given
