Vehicle

Information about the components and operating principles of COMAND can be found on more.

In this menu, you can set the following vehicle functions:

  • Rear window blind*

  • Exterior mirror convenience settings*

  • Easy-entry/exit feature

  • Exterior lighting delayed switch-off time

  • Interior lighting delayed switch-off time

  • Ambient light*

  • Locator lighting

  • Automatic locking feature

  • Interior motion sensor*

  • Tow-away protection*

  • Boot lid opening limiter*

 

Retracting/extending the rear window blind*

You can use this function to retract and extend the rear window blind.

You can assign this function to the programmable button more.

  

Select Vehicle.

 

The main area is active.

  

To select the Rear window blind function: slide or turn .

  

To retract or extend the rear window blind: press

select Vehicle Vehicle Rear window blind.

  

To confirm your selection: press .

Make sure that the rear window blind can move freely. Otherwise, the blind or other objects could be damaged.

If you operate the rear window blind using COMAND or the programmable button, this overrides the buttons on the rear doors.

The rear window blind is disabled at temperatures below -20 °C.

 

Exterior mirror convenience settings

    In the Exterior mirror convenience settings menu, you can switch the following exterior mirror functions on or off:

  • Folding the exterior mirrors in when locking

  • Automatically tilting down the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side when reversing

  

Select Vehicle.

Setting the easy-entry/exit feature

You can select:

  • Off: the function is switched off

  • Steering column: the steering wheel swings upwards

  • Steering column and seat*: the steering wheel swings upwards and the driver’s seat moves backwards

Risk of injury

Make sure that nobody can become trapped when you activate the easy-entry/exit feature.

If there is a risk of entrapment by the steering column, move the steering wheel adjustment lever or press the memory button.

If there is a risk of entrapment by the seat, you can also cancel the adjustment procedure by moving the seat adjustment switch. The steering column and driver’s seat* stop moving immediately.

Never leave children unsupervised in the vehicle. They could open the driver’s door and thereby unintentionally activate the easy-entry/exit feature and become trapped as a result.

Setting the delayed switch-off time for the exterior lighting

You can set whether and for how long you want the exterior lighting to remain on in the dark after the doors are closed. The exterior lighting automatically switches off after the switch-off delay has elapsed.

You can select:

  • 0 seconds: delayed switch-off is deactivated.

  • 15, 30, 45, 60 seconds: delayed switch-off is activated.

You can reactivate this function by opening a door within one minute. If none of the doors are opened after the key is removed from the ignition lock or if a door is not closed after it has been opened, the exterior lights switch off after 60 seconds.

Setting the delayed switch-off time for the interior lighting

You can set whether and for how long you wish the interior lighting to remain on in the dark after you have removed the key from the ignition lock.

You can select:

  • 0 seconds: delayed switch-off is deactivated.

  • 15, 30, 45, 60 seconds: delayed switch-off is activated.

You can reactivate this function by opening a door within one minute. If none of the doors are opened after the key is removed from the ignition lock or if a door is not closed after it has been opened, the exterior lights switch off after 60 seconds.

Setting the ambient light*

You can set the brightness of the interior lighting on a scale of 0 (off) to 5 (bright).

  

Select Vehicle.

Switching the locator lighting on/off

If you switch the locator lighting to ON, the following come on in the dark after you have unlocked the vehicle using the remote control:

  • The side lamps

  • The tail lamps

  • The licence plate lighting

  • The front foglamps

  • The doorway lamps in the mirror

The locator lighting switches off again when you open the driver’s door. If you do not open the driver’s door, the surround lighting switches off automatically after 40 seconds.

Activating/deactivating the automatic locking feature

You can use this function to activate or deactivate the automatic central locking feature. If the automatic locking feature is activated, your vehicle will lock centrally from a speed of about 15 km/h upwards.
