Locking/unlocking in an emergency
Emergency key
If the vehicle can no longer be unlocked or locked with the key or the KEYLESS GO key*, use the emergency key element.
If you use the emergency key element to unlock and open the driver's door or the boot lid, the anti-theft alarm system* will be triggered more.
There are several ways to turn off the alarm:

Press the or button on the key.

Insert the key into the ignition lock.
|
or |
|
Press the KEYLESS GO button* more.
|
or |
|
Lock or unlock the vehicle using KEYLESS GO*.

Unlocking the vehicle
If the vehicle can no longer be unlocked centrally with the key or the KEYLESS GO key*:

Remove the emergency key element from the key more.

Insert the emergency key element fully into the lock of the driver's door.

Turn the emergency key element anti-clockwise to position .
|

The door is unlocked.

On right-hand-drive vehicles, turn the emergency key element clockwise.

Turn the emergency key element back and remove it.
|
Locking the vehicle
If the vehicle can no longer be locked centrally with the key or the KEYLESS GO key*:
|
Open the driver's door.
|
|
Close the front-passenger door and the boot lid.
|
|
Press the central locking button more.
|
|
Check whether the locking knob on the front-passenger door is still visible. Press down the locking knob by hand if necessary.

Remove the emergency key element from the key more.
|

Insert the emergency key element fully into the lock of the driver's door.

Turn the emergency key element clockwise as far as it will go to position .

On right-hand-drive vehicles, turn the emergency key element anti-clockwise.

Turn the emergency key element back and remove it.
|
|
Check whether the doors and the boot lid are locked.

Opening/closing the boot

The boot lid swings upwards when opened. Therefore, make sure that there is enough space above the boot lid.
|
If the boot can no longer be unlocked with the key or the KEYLESS GO key*:
|
Remove the emergency key element from the key more.
|
To unlock the boot
|
Insert the emergency key element fully into boot lock .
|
|
Turn the emergency key element anti-clockwise as far as it will go and pull boot lid handle .
|

The boot is unlocked.
|
|
Turn the emergency key element back and remove it.
|
Opening the boot manually (remote boot lid closing feature*)

Lift the boot lid by handle .

Make sure that nobody can become trapped as you close the boot lid.
|

Do not leave the key in the boot. You could otherwise lock yourself out.

Pull the boot lid down using recess .
|
|
If necessary, close the boot lid from the outside by pushing down the edge.
|

|
With the roof open, the boot lid can only be closed if the roof has been lowered more.
|

Unlocking the stowage compartments
If the interior stowage compartments can no longer be unlocked with the key, the KEYLESS GO key* or the central locking button, use the emergency key element.
The interior stowage compartments include:

Only the glove compartment can be unlocked with the emergency key element.

 | To unlock the glove compartment separately: |
|
|
Remove the emergency key element from the key more.
|
|
Insert the emergency key element into the lock of the glove compartment and turn it to position .

You can open the glove compartment.
|
Lowering the loading aid manually
If it is no longer possible to lower the stowed roof in the boot using the loading aid, and you therefore cannot close the boot, proceed as follows:

Remove the inner floor from the boot.
|
|
Lift the cover in the boot floor on the left.
|
|
Ask another person to lift and hold the stowed roof.
|
|
Use Allen key from the vehicle tool kit to carefully turn locking screw anti-clockwise by a quarter of a turn.
|
|
Close the boot separator more.
|
|
Let go of the roof.
|

The roof is lowered slowly.
|
|
Fasten locking screw clockwise by a quarter of a turn once the roof has been lowered completely.
|

|
Do not fasten the screw too tightly.
|
|
Put the cover back on the boot floor.
|
|
Place the inner floor back in the boot.
|
|
Visit a specialist workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre, as soon as possible.
