Light switch

The light switch is used to switch the following on and off: headlamps, front foglamps, tail lamps, licence plate illumination and rear foglamp.

To switch on the front foglamps
To switch on the front and rear foglamps
Lights switched off/daytime driving lights switched on
Side lights, switch illumination switched on
Dipped-beam headlamps/main-beam headlamps (depending on the combination switch position)
Front foglamp indicator lamp (green)
Rear foglamp indicator lamp (yellow)

Switching on the lights

  

Turn the key to the drive position in the ignition lock before switching on the vehicle lighting.

Vehicles with daytime driving lights:

The side lamps, dipped-beam headlamps and licence plate illumination are switched on automatically as soon as the engine is started.

In some countries, daytime driving lights are required by law.

The dipped-beam headlamps are asymmetrical. For this reason, in countries where vehicles drive on the other side of the road than the country where the vehicle is registered, there is a danger of oncoming traffic being dazzled. Mask the headlamps partially when driving in these countries more.

Switching on the main-beam headlamps
  

Turn the light switch to position (dipped-beam headlamps).

 

The dipped-beam headlamps are switched on.

  

Push the combination switch on the left of the steering column forwards and engage.

 

The main-beam headlamps are switched on. The indicator lamp in the instrument panel lights up.

Front fog lamps and rear fog lamp

To switch on the front foglamps:

  

Pull out the light switch to level .

 

The front fog lamp indicator lamp (green) lights up.

To switch on the front foglamps and rear foglamp:

  

Pull out the light switch to level .

 

The front fog lamp (green) and rear fog lamp (yellow) indicator lamps light up.

Headlamp range adjustment

Headlamp range adjustment using the light switch

Vehicles with steel-spring suspension:

When the vehicle is laden, the light/dark boundary for the dipped-beam headlamps rises. Always adjust the headlamp range control so that oncoming traffic is not dazzled.

Vehicles with xenon headlamps are equipped with automatic headlamp range control.

To indicate briefly: press the combination switch to the pressure point in the direction of arrow or and hold it.

  

To indicate permanently: press the combination switch in the direction of arrow or beyond the pressure point.

Interior lighting

When the driver's or co-driver's doors are opened, the interior and entrance lighting are switched on automatically.

There is a delayed switch-off of the interior lighting when the doors are closed or when the vehicle key is turned to the drive position in the ignition. The interior lighting switches off automatically if a door remains open for a long time.

The modes of lighting can be switched on and controlled individually.

Press the switch briefly.

At a speed of around 25 km/h, the brightness of the interior lighting is adjusted automatically.

You can dim the interior lighting to any level while the vehicle is in motion.

Dimming the interior lighting

  

Hold down the switch.

 

The brightness of the interior lighting decreases. The brightness is increased if the interior lighting is dimmed to a maximum.

Switching off the interior lighting

  

Press the switch briefly.

or
  

Press the switch in the berth switch unit.

When you start the engine, the electronics system switches the interior lighting off automatically.

The "Interior lighting off when door is opened" function

  

To activate: press and hold the switch in the switch unit above the windscreen until a short tone sounds.

 

The interior and entrance lighting remain switched off when the doors are opened.

If you switch on the interior lighting before opening a door, it will remain on.

  

To deactivate: press and hold the switch again until a short tone sounds.

Driver’s / co-driver’s reading lamps

The switch for the driver's reading lamp is in the switch unit above the windscreen.

The switch for the co-driver's reading lamp is in the switch unit in the co-driver's door.

  

To activate: press the / switch briefly.

 

The respective reading lamp is switched on.

  

To dim: hold down the / switch.

 

The reading lamp brightness decreases. The brightness is increased if the reading lamp is dimmed to a maximum.

  

To deactivate: press the / switch briefly.

 

The respective reading lamp is switched off.

Nightlight (green)

The nightlight is used as non-dazzle courtesy lighting while driving.

The switch for the nightlight is in the switch unit above the windscreen.

  

To activate: press the switch.

 

The nightlight is switched on.

  

To deactivate: press the switch.

 

The nightlight is switched off.

Ambient lighting (blue)

The ambient lighting provides interior lighting when the vehicle is parked.

The switch for the ambient lighting is in the switch unit above the windscreen.

  

To activate: press the switch briefly.

 

The ambient lighting is switched on.

  

To dim: hold down the switch.

 

The brightness of the ambient lighting decreases. The brightness is increased if the ambient lighting is dimmed to a maximum.

  

To deactivate: press the switch briefly.

 

The ambient lighting is switched off.

At a speed above around 25 km/h, the ambient lighting is switched off automatically. You can have this function deactivated at a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.

Adjustable reading lamp

To switch on the reading lamp

To activate: turn the switch cap to position .

 

The reading lamp is switched on.

  

To deactivate: turn the switch cap to position .

 

The reading lamp is switched off.

  

To dim: turn switch cap to the left or right until the desired brightness is reached.

Folding reading lamp

  

To switch on: press the upper section of the reading lamp.

 

The reading lamp is switched on.

  

To switch off: press the lower section of the reading lamp.

 

The reading lamp is switched off.

Reading light, berth

  

To switch on: press the upper section of the reading lamp.

 

The reading lamp is switched on.

  

To switch off: press the lower section of the reading lamp.

 

The reading lamp is switched off.
