Vehicle tool kit and emergency equipment

Tool kit compartments

The tool kit compartments are located on the sides on the cab above the wheel arches and are only accessible from the outside.

The lighting switches on automatically when you open a tool kit compartment.

Opening the tool kit compartment

	Pull release lever once and release.
	The exterior flap opens until stopped by the retaining hook.
	Pull release lever again.
	Exterior flap is fully unlocked.
	Swing exterior flap upwards.
	Press the hinge joint up.
	Swing the exterior flap downwards.
	The hinge joint snaps into place.

Closing the tool kit compartment

	Swing exterior flap upwards.
	The hinge joint will disengage.
	Swing the exterior flap downwards until you hear it engage in the lock.

Risk of injury

When working on the vehicle, comply with all safety regulations (e.g. Operating Instructions, regulations concerning hazardous materials, environmental protection measures, work safety and accident prevention regulations, etc.).

To reduce the risk of serious or even fatal injuries and to avoid damage to the vehicle, observe the following when using the jack:

The jack is designed only to raise the vehicle for a short time, e.g. while a wheel is being changed. It is not suitable for raising and holding the vehicle so that work can be carried out underneath it.
Only position the jack at the appropriate jacking point of the vehicle. Check that the jack is correctly positioned at the jacking point before raising the vehicle.
Secure the vehicle before jacking it up to prevent it from rolling away, e.g. by applying the parking brake and/or using chocks. Never release the parking brake while the vehicle is raised.
The surface on which the jack is standing must be firm and level. Place the jack on a support plate if the surface is not firm.
Make sure that the distance between the underside of the raised tyre and the ground is not greater than 30 mm. The vehicle could otherwise slip off the jack or tip over.
Never change a wheel on uphill or downhill gradients. The vehicle could otherwise slip off the jack.
Never place your hands or feet under the raised vehicle.
Never lie under the raised vehicle.
Make sure that nobody is in the vehicle when it is raised.
Vehicles with Telligent® level control (air suspension): turn back the vehicle key in the ignition lock as far as possible. This prevents automatic readjustment of the chassis height.
Never start the engine and avoid other jolts while the vehicle is raised. The vehicle could otherwise slip off the jack.

The pump lever is used to operate:

the jack
the wheelbrace
the spare wheel winch
the cab tilt pump

	Risk of injury
The locking pin must engage in the recess provided when the pump lever is assembled. Otherwise, the lever could slide out of the guide when you are pumping and you could be injured.

Assembling the pump lever

Fit the pump lever together with bayonet connection resources/font_symbols/mbsymb5/mbsymb5_0034.png and engage.

Wheel chock

Depending on the vehicle version and equipment, the storage location for the wheel chock may vary.

In front of the left wheel arch

Wheel chock in front of the left wheel arch

	Press and hold the retainer in the direction of the arrow.
	Pull the chock out upwards.

Wheel chock on the rear cross member

	Pull plug retainer out of the eyelet.
	Remove chock from its mounting sideways.
	Push plug retainer back into the eyelet.
