Notes on changing bulbs
Bulbs and lights are essential for vehicle safety. You must therefore ensure that all bulbs are functioning at all times.
Bulbs have a limited service life.
Mercedes-Benz recommends, that when a dipped-beam headlamp or main-beam headlamp bulb fails that the corresponding bulb in the other headlamp is replaced at the same time. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use Mercedes-Benz longlife bulbs for this purpose.
 | Risk of injury |
|
Observe the following notes concerning the handling of bulbs:
-
Bulbs can become very hot. There is a risk of burns. You must therefore allow them to cool completely before changing them.
-
To avoid injuries, always wear non-slip gloves and safety goggles when replacing bulbs.
-
Do not use a bulb if it has been dropped or if its glass has been scratched. The bulb could explode. You could be injured by the shards of glass from a broken bulb.
-
Keep bulbs out of reach of children.
-
Only fit bulbs in enclosed lamps which have been designed for them and only use replacement bulbs of the same type and with the appropriate voltage.
-
Dirt on the glass bulb reduces the operating life of the bulb. Do not hold the glass bulb with your bare hands. If necessary, clean the glass bulb with alcohol or spirit while it is cold and wipe with a lint-free cloth.
-
Protect bulbs from moisture when in use and do not allow them to come into contact with liquids.
-
Where possible, only have defective bulbs changed at a qualified specialist workshop which has the necessary specialist knowledge and tools for the work required. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this purpose.
All work relevant to safety or on safety-related systems must be carried out at a qualified specialist workshop.

Partially masking headlamps - driving on the left/right
When using the vehicle for international transportation:
In countries where vehicles are driven on the left, a specific area of the headlamp lens must be masked with opaque, self-adhesive tape. This will ensure that you do not dazzle oncoming traffic.
When using the vehicle for international transport or in other countries, observe the relevant national regulations.
Responsibility for the vehicle lighting always rests with the driver.
 | Risk of accident |
|
There is a risk of dazzling oncoming traffic with the asymmetrical dipped-beam headlamps in countries where vehicles are driven on the opposite side of the road to the country in which the vehicle was registered. In these countries, you should mask the headlamps as specified by Mercedes-Benz to ensure that you do not dazzle oncoming traffic.
|
The following illustrations show which area of the headlamp lens must be covered on your vehicle.
|
Make masking strips from commercially available opaque adhesive tape, cutting to the size and shape shown in the illustrations.
|
|
Apply to the corresponding area of the headlamp.

Fuses
The fuse box
containing the main and auxiliary fuse carriers is located in the footwell on
the co-driver's side.
 | Risk of fire |
|
Do not fit fuses with a higher amperage than specified. This would result in damage to the electrical system or even a fire in the electrical system.
Only use fuses of the specified amperage and do not bridge or repair fuses. Do not replace a fuse until the cause of the malfunction has been traced and rectified.

Main fuse carrier
The individual
electrical circuits are protected by safety fuses or automatic
circuit-breakers.
|
If an electrical
circuit failure occurs, switch off electrical consumers and visually check the
fuse.
|
|
Replace the
defective fuse with a spare fuse.
|
|
Switch on
electrical consumers and check that they function
correctly.
