Vehicle tool kit and emergency equipment

The vehicle tool kit is located:

  • in the co-driver's seat base

  • in the rear stowage compartment (on vehicles with additional battery, detachable trailer coupling, swivelling co-driver's seat or sound system)

Stowage compartment under the co-driver's seat

  

Fold the lower section of rotary catch upwards.

  

Turn rotary catch of cover anti-clockwise.

  

Remove cover .

The stowage compartment is located in the rear compartment on the right-hand side.

Compact vehicle version: fold up the rear seat.

  

Fold the lower section of rotary catch in the direction of the arrow and turn anti-clockwise.

  

Open the side flap.

  

Remove the clamping strap.

  

Lift off the tool holder cover.

Jack

Risk of injury

To avoid the risk of serious or fatal injuries or vehicle damage, please bear the following points in mind:

  • The jack is designed only to raise the vehicle for a short time, e.g. while a wheel is being changed.

    It is not designed to enable work to be carried out underneath the vehicle.

  • The jack must be placed on a firm, flat surface only.

  • Do not change wheels on uphill or downhill gradients under any circumstances.

  • Do not lie under the vehicle if it is only supported by the jack.

  • Make sure that no persons are present in the vehicle when raising the vehicle.

  • Do not start the engine while the vehicle is raised.

  • Make sure that the distance between the underside of the tyres and the ground does not exceed 30 mm.

  • The vehicle must be placed on stands if you intend to carry out work underneath the vehicle.

The jack is located behind the right-hand side flap at the rear of the vehicle.

  

To remove the jack: open the stowage compartment more.

  

Carefully pull the jack up and out of the stowage compartment.

  

To stow the jack: turn the jack to the fully retracted position.

  

Place the jack in the recess in the stowage compartment and press it in firmly.

  

Close the stowage compartment.

Warning triangle

The warning triangle is located in the stowage compartment in the driver’s door.

To set up the warning triangle: take the warning triangle out of the stowage compartment in the driver's door.

  

Fold stand out sideways from the bottom.

  

Pull side reflectors  upwards to form a triangle, and lock them at the top using press-stud .

 

You can fold the warning triangle into position.

Observe the legal requirements in each country.

First-aid kit

The first-aid kit is located in the stowage compartment in the co-driver’s door.

Check the expiry dates of the first-aid kit contents annually, and replace them if necessary.

Fire extinguisher

Open the fasteners on bracket .

  

Take the fire extinguisher out of its holder.

Please read the instructions on the fire extinguisher carefully and familiarise yourself with its operation.

Tyre sealant

The tyre sealant is located:

  • in the co-driver's seat base

  • in the rear stowage compartment (on vehicles with an additional battery, detachable trailer coupling, swivelling co-driver's seat or sound system)

Spare wheel

If you have fitted a spare wheel, the tyre pressure monitor more will not function for this wheel. The spare wheel is not equipped with a sensor for monitoring tyre pressure.

Spare wheel in the rear compartment

The spare wheel is located in the rear compartment on the left-hand side.

  

Open the tailgate/rear door.

Attach auxiliary tool to wheel wrench .

  

To remove: loosen the securing bolt in the middle of the wheel.

 

Use wheel wrench with auxiliary tool attached.

  

Remove spare wheel bracket .

  

Take the wheel from the bracket.

To install: place the wheel on bracket on wheel arch .

  

Put in the securing bolt and tighten it.

 

Use wheel wrench with auxiliary tool attached.

Spare wheel under the rear of the vehicle

The spare wheel is secured under the rear of the vehicle. You will need the wheel nut wrench and the auxiliary tool from the vehicle tool kit to remove the wheel.

  

Open the tailgate/rear door.

To remove: guide auxiliary tool through opening into the winch guide.

  

Clip wheel nut wrench onto auxiliary tool .

  

Turn wheel nut wrench in the direction of arrow until you feel resistance or until the friction clutch of the winch overwinds.

 

The spare wheel has been lowered.

A cover tray with a handle is fitted to the spare wheel.

Hold the spare wheel by handle and pull it out from under the vehicle.

Press cable downwards and twist it against spring using wheel gripper .

 

You can pull wheel gripper out through the opening in the wheel brace.

  

Take off the cover tray.

  

To mount: place the spare wheel on the road with the wheel brace pointing upwards.

Alloy wheels cannot be transported under the vehicle. In this case, transport the wheel in the load compartment and only raise up the cover of the recess.

Place the cover tray on the wheel so that the tyre valve is located under recess .

  

Press the cover tray on to the wheel brace.

  

Guide wheel gripper  more on the cable through the opening in the wheel brace at an angle from above.

  

Slide the spare wheel under the vehicle a little.

  

Clip wheel nut wrench  more onto auxiliary tool  more.

  

Turn wheel nut wrench  more in the direction of arrow  more until you feel resistance and the friction clutch of the winch overwinds in jerks.

 

The spare wheel is firmly secured to the underside of the vehicle.

When winding upwards, make sure that the handle of the cover points backwards.

Check the spare wheel's position and whether it is seated correctly after each wheel change, at each customer service interval or at least once a year.
