Display lighting

The display lighting lights up when the ignition is switched on.

It goes out approximately 30 seconds after the ignition is switched off.

You can adjust the display lighting more when the ignition is switched on and you turn on the vehicle lighting.

Transmission status indicator

The gear status indicator displays information about the sequential transmission.

Fuel gauge

The fuel level is represented by eight segments. The number of filled segments represents the fuel level. If all eight segments are filled, the fuel tank is full.

Reserve range

Reserve range is reached when there are five litres of fuel left in the fuel tank.

In this case:

  • the filling pump icon flashes.

  • the multi-display shows the fuel tank content to an accuracy half a litre (reserve fuel display).

You can call up the reserve fuel display by using the multi-display more.

Frost warning indicator and outside temperature display

WARNING

When the temperature displayed is just above freezing point, the road surface may be icy, especially in wooded areas or on bridges. The vehicle could skid if you fail to adapt your driving style. Always adapt your driving style and drive at a speed to suit the prevailing weather conditions.

Should the outside temperature drop below 3 mbsymb3_00a5.png , you are notified in the multifunction display that the road could be icy. The ice crystal symbol flashes for 60 seconds.

There is a short delay before a change in outside temperature is displayed.

The clock can only be set as long as the numbers in the display are flashing.

To set the time forwards or back in increments: press and hold button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png until the numbers in the display begin to flash.

Press left-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png or right-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png repeatedly until the desired value has been set.

  • Button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png: sets the clock back

  • Button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png: sets the clock forward

To accept changes, do not press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png or mbsymb6_inv_003b.png until the numbers in the display stop flashing.

To set the time forwards or back quickly: press and hold button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png until the numbers in the display begin to flash.

Press left-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png or right-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png for longer than a second.

To accept changes, do not press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png or mbsymb6_inv_003b.png until the numbers in the display stop flashing.

To set the time forwards or back in 10-minute increments: press and hold button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png until the numbers in the display begin to flash.

Press for longer than five seconds on left-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png or right-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png.

To accept changes, do not press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png or mbsymb6_inv_003b.png until the numbers in the display stop flashing.

The clock in the instrument cluster is not synchronised with the dashboard clock.

Multi-display

Using the multi-display you can switch to the following displays:

  • trip meter

  • service display

  • reserve fuel display (appears when there is less than five litres left in the fuel tank)

To select: press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png on the left-hand side repeatedly until the desired display appears in the multifunction display.

Trip meter

To select: press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png more on the left-hand side repeatedly until the trip meter appears in the multifunction display.

To reset: press and hold button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png more on the left-hand side until the trip meter is reset to 0.

Service display

The service display informs you of the time and scope of the next service due date.

Shortly after starting the engine, the due date of the next service appears in the display for ten seconds. Depending on distance travelled, it displays the days or kilometres remaining. You can recognise the scope of the service work to be carried out by the symbol shown in your vehicle's multifunction display.

Start the engine.

To display the next service interval briefly: press left-hand button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png more of the multi-display twice in quick succession.

Depending on which service is due, the multifunction display shows one mbsymb3_00ac.png or two mbsymb3_007d.png spanners.

Fuel gauge

The reserve fuel display only appears when the fuel level drops into the reserve fuel range more.

To select: press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png more on the left-hand side repeatedly until the reserve fuel display appears in the multifunction display.

Rev counter

The rev counter can be turned approx. 90corposwgl_00b0.png . If the ignition is switched on and you turn on the lighting system, the rev counter is illuminated from the inside.

The rev counter shows the engine revs in multiples of 1,000 rpm.

Pay attention to the gearshift recommendation in the multifunction display.

Environmental note

Driving in the optimum engine speed range reduces fuel consumption and stress on the engine.

Do not hang any objects on the rev counter.

This could cause the rev counter to be torn out of its anchorage point and be damaged.

Dashboard clock

The dashboard clock can be turned 90corposwgl_00b0.png . If the ignition is switched on and you turn on the lighting system, the dashboard clock is illuminated from the inside.

The buttons for setting the time are positioned on the rear of the dashboard clock.

To set the clock back: press button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png once.

The time is adjusted by one minute.

Press and hold button mbsymb6_inv_003a.png for at least two seconds.

The adjustment speed increases.

To set the clock forwards: press button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png once.

The time is adjusted by one minute.

Press and hold button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png for at least two seconds.

The adjustment speed increases.

Adjusting the instrument cluster lighting

Five lighting adjustment levels are available for the following instruments:

  • Switches

  • Scales in the instrument cluster

  • Radio

  • Air conditioning control panel

  • Additional instruments

Make sure that the key is in position 1 in the ignition lock.

Switch on the side lamps.

To brighten or dim: press button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png on the right-hand side of the instrument cluster.

The brightness of the instrument cluster lighting changes by one level.

The current setting is stored.
