WARNING

Only use the on-board computer when road and traffic conditions permit. You would otherwise be distracted and unable to concentrate properly on driving, and could cause an accident.

WARNING

No messages will be displayed if either the instrument cluster or the multifunction display is inoperative.

As a result, you will not be able to see information about your driving conditions, such as speed, outside temperature, warning and indicator lamps, display messages or system failures. Driving characteristics may be impaired. Adjust your driving style and vehicle speed accordingly.

Immediately consult a qualified specialist workshop which has the necessary specialist knowledge and tools to carry out the work required. smart recommends a smart Centre for this purpose. In particular, work relevant to safety or on safety-related systems must be carried out at a qualified specialist workshop.

WARNING

The on-board computer only records and displays malfunctions and warnings from certain systems. For this reason, you should always make sure that your vehicle is safe to use. You could otherwise cause an accident by driving an unsafe vehicle.

The operating safety of your vehicle could be impaired if maintenance work is carried out incorrectly. This could cause you to lose control of your vehicle and cause an accident. Moreover, the safety systems may no longer be able to protect you or others as they are designed to do.

Always have service work carried out at a qualified specialist workshop. Points to remember

When you unlock the vehicle, the on-board computer is activated.

Control lever

You can control the multifunction display and the settings in the on-board computer using the control lever on the steering wheel.

Multifunction display

Values and settings as well as display messages are shown in the multifunction display of the on-board computer.

To activate the multifunction display: unlock the vehicle.

To acknowledge the messages: briefly press the OK button on the control lever more.

To exit the menu: press the control wheel on the control lever more up or down until the Back menu item appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Odometer menu

In the Distance menu, you have the following options:

  • displaying the trip meter and total distance recorder

  • displaying the total distance recorder and fuel gauge

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the distance appears in the multifunction display.

To scroll through the displays: briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

To reset the trip meter: select the corresponding display.

Press and hold left button mbsymb6_inv_0042.png more of the instrument cluster until the trip meter is reset to 0.

Consumption menu

You can display the current consumption in l/100 km in the Consumption menu.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Consumption menu appears in the multifunction display.

You will see the current consumption in litres per 100 km.

When the vehicle is stationary, consumption is displayed in litres per hour.

nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png START/ nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png RESET menu

In the nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png START/nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png RESET menu, you have the following options:

  • displaying the trip computer from start

  • displaying the trip computer from reset

The values in the nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png START trip computer are calculated from the start of a journey, whilst the nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png RESET values are calculated from the last reset.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the trip computer appears in the multifunction display.

To scroll through the displays: briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

To reset the trip computer: select the corresponding nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png START or nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png RESET display.

Press and hold left button mbsymb6_inv_003b.png of the instrument cluster more, until the trip computer is reset to 0.

The nfz_ba2_inv_0059.png START trip computer is automatically reset when:

  • the ignition has been switched off for more than four hours.

  • 9,999 kilometres have been exceeded.

Message menu

You can view the message memory in the Messages menu.

If there are no messages, the Messages menu will not be displayed.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Messages menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The multifunction display shows the first stored message.

To scroll through the messages: briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Service display

The service display informs you of the time and scope of the next service due date. The service due date appears in the multifunction display:

To acknowledge the message: briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The message is stored in the message memory.

If the service due date has been exceeded, the kilometres or days are displayed in the multifunction display with a minus sign.

Settings menu

In the Settings menu, you have the following options:

  • Setting the distance unit of measurement

  • Setting the language

  • Setting the temperature unit of measurement

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Settings menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Setting the language

You can select the following languages:

  • German

  • English

  • French

  • Italian

  • Spanish

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Language menu has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired language has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected language is set.

Setting the temperature unit of measurement

You can select the following units:

  • Celsius (mbsymb3_00a5.png)

  • Fahrenheit (mbsymb3_00a6.png)

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the °C/°F menu has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired unit has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected unit is set.

Setting the distance unit of measurement

You can select the following units:

  • kilometres (km)

  • miles (mi)

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the km/mi menu has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired unit has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected unit is set.

Clock menu

In the Time menu, you have the following options:

  • Setting the hour mode (12 h or 24 h)

  • Setting the time of day[1]

  • Setting the hours

  • Setting the minutes

The clock in the on-board computer is not synchronised with the dashboard clock.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Time menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Setting the hour mode

You can choose between the 12-hour and 24-hour mode.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the 12h 24h menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired mode has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected mode is set.

Setting the time of day

You can only change this setting if the 12-hour mode has been selected.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the am pm menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired mode has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected mode is set.

Setting the hours

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Hour menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired number has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected number is set.

Setting the minutes

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the Minute menu appears in the multifunction display.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

Press the control wheel on the control lever up or down until the desired number has been selected.

Briefly press the OK button on the control lever.

The selected number is set.
