Electrical fuses

Notes

The fuses in your vehicle serve to close down faulty circuits. If a fuse blows, all the components on the circuit and their functions will fail.

WARNING

Only use the fuses approved by smart or fuses that are equally safe and are of the specified amperage for the respective system. Details are available from any qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a smart Centre. Otherwise, a circuit overload could cause a fire.

Do not attempt to repair or bridge faulty fuses. Have the cause traced and rectified at a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a smart Centre.

Blown fuses must be replaced with fuses of the same rating, which you can recognise by the colour and value. The fuse ratings are listed in the fuse allocation chart.

Only change fuses while the vehicle is stationary. Switch off all consumers and the ignition first.

If the newly inserted fuse also blows, have the cause traced and rectified at a specialist workshop that is qualified for smart electric drive vehicles, e.g. a smart Centre.

Replacing fuses

The fuse box is located on the left-hand side under the dashboard.

Before replacing fuses, always switch off all electrical consumers and the ignition.

Check the fuse allocation chart overview more to find out which fuse belongs to the consumer that has failed.

Pull out the appropriate fuse.

Replace the defective fuse with a new one of the same amperage.
