Where will I find...?

Vehicle tool kit and emergency equipment

The jack and the vehicle tool kit are located in the co-driver's footwell.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries and to avoid damage to the vehicle, observe the following:

  • the jack is designed only to raise the vehicle for a short time, e.g. while a wheel is being changed.

    It is not designed to enable work to be carried out underneath the vehicle.

  • the jack must be placed on a firm, level surface.

  • never change a wheel on uphill or downhill gradients.

  • never lie under the raised vehicle.

  • make sure that no persons are present in the vehicle when the vehicle is raised.

  • never start the engine when the vehicle is raised.

  • make sure that the distance between the underside of the tyres and the ground does not exceed 30 mm.

  • if you intend to work under the vehicle, place the vehicle on stands.

To unlock: turn quick-release fastener mbsymb6_inv_003a.png anti-clockwise or clockwise mbsymb6_inv_0032.png.

Remove the cover.

To lock: press quick-release fastener mbsymb6_inv_003a.png down until it engages.

Remove vehicle tool kit mbsymb6_inv_0041.png.

Pull up quick-release lever mbsymb6_inv_003d.png and unhook the retaining strap of jack mbsymb6_inv_003f.png.

Lift jack mbsymb6_inv_003f.png upwards out of the holder.

When stowing away the jack, place it in the holder as shown in the illustration. Make sure that the retaining strap of the jack is hooked in and tensioned.

Warning triangle/warning lamp

The warning triangle, warning lamp and reflective safety vest are behind the cover in the stowage compartment of the driver's door.

Unlock quick-release fasteners mbsymb6_inv_0032.png and fold out the cover.

Take warning triangle mbsymb6_inv_003f.png, warning lamp mbsymb6_inv_003d.png and the reflective safety vest out of the retainers.

To set up: fold stand mbsymb6_inv_003a.png out sideways from the bottom.

Pull side reflectors mbsymb6_inv_003b.png upwards to form a triangle and lock them at the top using press-stud mbsymb6_inv_003d.png.

Wheel chock

Pull restraining cable mbsymb6_inv_003a.png down slightly and then remove it from bracket mbsymb6_inv_003b.png.

Remove the chock.

When stowing it away, make sure that the chock is secured in the retainer by the restraining cable.

Pull the retainer spring downwards and remove the chock.

When stowing it away, make sure that the chock is secured in the retainer by the retainer springs.

First-aid kit

The first-aid kit is located in the stowage compartment in the co-driver's door.

Unlock quick-release fasteners mbsymb6_inv_0032.png and fold out the cover.

Check the expiry date of the first-aid kit annually, and replace the contents when necessary.

Fire extinguisher

Pull shackles mbsymb6_inv_003b.png upwards.

Take fire extinguisher mbsymb6_inv_003a.png out of its holder.

Please read the instructions on the fire extinguisher carefully and familiarise yourself with its operation.

Tyre sealant

The Premium tyre sealant is located in the stowage compartment in the right-hand door sill.

Spare wheel

If you are replacing the tyres on the vehicle, you may use the spare wheel as a road wheel provided that:

  • the tyre is no more than six years old

  • the wheel and tyre are of the prescribed design

The spare wheel is located in a spare wheel bracket under the rear of the vehicle.

Check the spare wheel regularly to see that it is secure and has the prescribed tyre pressure.

Open the tailgate.

Apply a screwdriver to recesses mbsymb6_inv_003b.png and then prise off covers mbsymb6_inv_003a.png.

Using the wheel wrench from the vehicle tool kit more, unscrew the now visible bolts by approximately 20 turns anti-clockwise.

Slightly raise spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_0041.png and unhook left-hand safety catch mbsymb6_inv_003d.png.

Assemble the pump lever for the jack and slide it into sleeve mbsymb6_inv_003f.png on spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_0041.png.

Raise spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_0041.png with the pump lever and unhook right-hand safety catch mbsymb6_inv_003d.png.

Slowly lower spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_0041.png down to the ground.

Lift spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_0041.png slightly and pull the pump lever out of sleeve mbsymb6_inv_003f.png.

Use the pump lever to prise the spare wheel beyond the rear of the spare wheel bracket.

Carefully remove the spare wheel from the bracket.

WARNING

When the spare wheel is removed, the centre of gravity changes due to the heavy weight of the wheel. The spare wheel could slip off or tip and cause injury to yourself or others. Pull the spare wheel out carefully. Take care not to trap your fingers when lifting out the spare wheel.

Loosen wing nuts mbsymb6_inv_003d.png manually and then remove them.

Loosen nuts mbsymb6_inv_003b.png as far as the thread end.

Slightly raise spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_003f.png and unhook left-hand safety catch mbsymb6_inv_003a.png.

Assemble the pump lever for the jack and slide it into sleeve on the right-hand side of spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_003f.png.

Raise spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_003f.png with the pump lever and unhook right-hand safety catch mbsymb6_inv_003a.png.

Slowly lower spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_003f.png down to the ground.

Lift spare wheel bracket mbsymb6_inv_003f.png slightly and pull the pump lever out of sleeve.
